THE ETESIAN DUO

A Musical Bond Formed Through Friendship

Flutists Arturo Rodriguez and Alan Berquist met in 2014 where they discovered their passion for performing works for two flutes with a variety of accompaniment. Later on they discovered their desire to explore works for two flutes by a diverse array of composers. In 2016, they premiered their flute duo, The Etesian Duo. 

Their debut performances was made public at The Piedmont Center for the Arts and later on in the summer at the National Flute Association Convention in San Diego of 2016 where they premiered a work by composer Mark Fromm entitled The Universe is Expanding; 13.8 variations for Two Flutes. 

Since then, the duo has worked on a variety of projects which include original compositions by Arturo Rodriguez and many other composers as well as transcriptions of timeless flute works, flute quintets, quartets, and everything in between. 

In August of 2022, they performed at the National Flute Association Convention in Chicago. Together they participated in the first ever LGBTQIA Flute Choir where Arturo premiered his work entitled Iridescent Fanfare for Flute Choir.
